Don’t buy Pets rescue instead!

A big plea from me here! Please don’t buy animals from ads in the paper or pet shops. There are too many reasons for me to list them all here but some are as follows;

1) It just makes greedy people breed animals for money, often resulting in the breeding animals having a shorter and more uncomfortable life.

2) Animal shelters are full of unwanted animals.

3) Kittens and puppies may look cute but they grow up and are then often abandoned in favour of a new puppy or kitten.

4) Getting a rescued animal can often work out cheaper. Often rescue shelters will have a policy to pay vet bills for the lifetime of your rescued pet esp if you take on an older one! Oldies can often be totally fab (I really know this having had a few in my lifetime).

5) Most

PenPen or his full name Bad Penny (because he kept turning up) having a kip

rescue places will worm and vaccinate your animal before you get it saving you money and making sure the animal is healthy.

So please before you part with your cash, think of getting a rescued Animal.

    Hear hear! Can I also add to your plea to anyone with pets (particularly cats!), to please, please get your animals spayed/nuetered, as this also adds to the problem of shelters full of unwanted animals. Our cat is FIV+ and was 8 when we adopted her from Cats Protection, she was the longest resident in the shelter because of her age and health issues, but she’s the most loving, playful cat with a fabulous personality and we couldn’t be without her! 🙂

  2. I totally agree with you Emily. Many thanks for the useful post. 🙂
